This Spin-Off is all about the words of the good Lord. We’re not members of the clergy by any means, but we know a few things about what Jesus definitely did and did not say. And honestly, it’s amazing what a quick google search can do. Though Dani will always stand by the notion that cleanliness is next to godliness….Lavender Fabuloso and scrubber in hand.
Ep. 10 - The One About Age
Age ain’t nothing but a number...a number that we struggle with all the damn time. Male or female, teen or early thirties, we all want to be elsewhere. Either we’re mad because we haven’t accomplished every goal on our list, or we wish we could go back....waaaaay back.... unless of course, we’re 12, then we just want to be 21! (Because NO ONE complains about that!) See what we mean? At Spin The Bottle, we don’t claim to have all the answers, but when it comes to loving the skin you’re in, our hard fast rule has become “Wherever you are, BE there”. Because that’s all the time you get anyway. No need to waste it on being miserable.
Enjoy this reflection on life and age. You’ll hear about best experiences, disappointments, and memorable lessons. Hopefully, it will inspire you to “shake the 'Etch-A-Sketch'” and do something that makes you happy.
SpinOff #9 - Lyrically Tho?
Do you know the lyrics to all your favorite songs? No, really. Every word? We thought we knew too, but once again, we found ourselves in a real recent revelation. Listen as we uncover the true inspiration and lyrical connotation of a few classic tunes. Who knows, maybe "Uncle Jo Jo" was also a part of your Bone, Thugs & Harmony experience as well...
Ep. 9 - The One About Creativity
Have you found yourself in a creative rut? Not to worry, we have Brooks D. Proctor, founder of Square Bear, in the building to help us work a few of the kinks out. From pinky rings to peanut butter and jelly we’ve covered the full gamut in this conversation about how to unlock the je-wels from the right side of your brain. And we promise, there’s a little something in here for everyone because we happen to believe that creativity is an equal opportunist. So cue up your Pinterest page and let your inner artist loose. Haven’t you heard? It’s hip to be YOU!

SpinOff #8 - I Feel A Way
Between grown men and flip-flops, elaborate kid birthdays, and selfies while “praying”, we still manage to be annoyed by something else. But obviously, we have our reasons. And we swear they are pretty good...
Ep. 8 - The One About Introverts
Well, kids. “To thine own self be true” is the moral of this story. If you love quiet, binging on Netflix and the sound of your own thoughts, you’re in good company. WE SEE YOU. Or if you’re confused by your boo or bestie’s occasional aloofness, or feel they need to “get out more”, you should definitely join us for this mini education on introversion—at least as we know it. Patience, extroverts, your time will come. It always does…

SpinOff #7 - Black Lives Matter
On this mini-spin, we take a more serious turn to discuss Black Lives Matter and the tragedies which took place over the summer. We would be remiss if we didn’t discuss it as it affected each and everyone of us in a multitude of different ways. Tune in for our take on what it felt like to navigate through and what we plan to do in order to be a part of the solution moving forward. Black Lives Matter. Our. Lives. Matter.
SpinOff #6 - Currently Crushing (Summer '16 Edition)
As we prepare to bid this Summer adieu, we take a moment to look back on the many highlights. There are so many moments that made our hearts pitter patter, but the general consensus is that we are currently crushing on all the Melanin Magic of this season. It’s a good look! So, with that being said, join us for a little Netflix reminiscing & chillin’ (the G-Rated kind) while we celebrate all the awesomeness that was this Summer!
SpinOff #5 - My Vote This Summer
Although many things may have changed, our vote for this Summer has not! No, you are not in the Twilight Zone. This is, in fact, the US of A and the tomfoolery that is the Presidential Election has reached an apex. With that being said, join us for some dialogue (or ranting) about the candidates for Commander-in-Chief. For what it’s worth, we will take ours straight up and hold the racism and misogyny. *drops mic* 🎤
SpinOff #4: Summer Revelations
Can you believe we haven't talked all summer?! We've just been "spinning" all over the place (see what we did there). Well, we are back and thought the best way to start would be with a SpinOff to let you know what we've been up to and, of course, what we've learned because life is like a box of chocolates, you know? No? Ok! We missed you guys! Be on the lookout for more SpinOffs in the coming weeks as we prepare for our exciting new season!
SpinOff #3 - 'Rom-Com', You Did Us Wrong
Have you ever been told you live in a fairy tale or have impossibly unrealistic expectations for love? If so, you may be one of the many victims of the "'Rom-Com’ Effect". In this mini episode, we explore some of the hilarious ways romantic comedies have misguided us all. If you've ever found yourself taking a page from your favorite silver screen character only to find it didn't quite translate the same way in reality, this episode is for you. 'Rom-Com', you did us wrong. We'll keep watching, but know that we are on to you.
Ep. 7 - The One About ME....Of course
"It's all about Me, Me, Me, Me, ME. Forget about You, You, You, You, You". We don't mean that, but thank you Mya for the lyrics that sum up today's episode. Today, we're talking about the rising epidemic of Narcissism and sharing some legit research that might help us all. Don't worry, you won't have to give up your selfies. OH...and you may want to grab a glass of wine now in preparation for today's recent revelations. Don't say we didn't warn you.
SpinOff #2 - Hypothetically Speaking
But wait…there’s more! This mini-spin gets real…hypothetical. We’ve got bones to pick with the cast of How to Get Away with Murder and "Ms. Earn Me" herself, Olivia Pope. Short, sweet, and full of spoilers—but only if you’ve been living under a rock or taking a very LONG Shondaland hiatus.
Ep. 6 - The One About Lemonade
We debated whether or not an episode covering Beyoncé’s Lemonade was still relevant. Are people still talking about it? Have our short attention spans left speculations of “Becky with the good hair” behind? Then we decided…we didn’t care. We’re tipping our wine glasses to Queen Bey. The symbolism, the imagery, the storytelling. So much to discuss! Also, we get a chance to read our very first “listener letters”!!! Thanks for the love!
SpinOff #1 - Currently Crushing
So listen, we have a lot to say (if you haven't gathered that by now). We know we can't ever get it all into 1 episode, which is why we typically trust the force behind the wine bottle to guide our convos. However, sometimes we just need to get some stuff out... just not a whole episode worth of stuff. That said, please enjoy our newest addition to the STB Podcast...#SPINOFF. It's basically a mini episode, a mini spin, a SPIN-NI if you will. Get it? No? Anyway, here's a little topical ranting from us until the next show arrives! ENJOY!

Ep. 5 - The One About Holdin' & Foldin'
There's some extra testosterone in the studio today, and it's getting a little serious...but Dani + Drea are not ones to shy away from the deep end of the conversation pool. Listen as Marc Cunningham, creator of the web series and book "Why Men Become Dogs", and Brandon Davis, founder of B Royal Fitness, discuss their experiences with over-investing in relationships, learning to communicate and moving on from disappointment.
Ep. 4 - The One About Songs in the Key of Life
Isn't it crazy how some memories are vividly marked by music? How songs become forever attached to a break-up, a melt-down, or a giddy celebration? On this episode we decided to vibe out to the lyrics and melodies that powered us through the past and talk about what they mean to us today. Also, we give some very deserving honor where it's due. Take a load off and join us?
Ep. 3 - The One About Friends, Best Friends, & Breast Friends
FRIENDS uh uh uh....HOW MANY OF US HAVE THEM? If you're anything like us you are probably realizing with every new year that the word "friendship" seems to take on new looks and meanings. In this episode we discuss the roles our friends play in our lives and lessons we've learned along the way that have made us better. Also Dani SCHOOLS us on how to really be about that friend life in a rather....biblical way. Special Guest and Dani's bestie, Christina Vidal, also joins us in the studio to talk about their nearly lifelong best friendedness and how that journey has brought them to today!
Ep. 2 - The One About Kendrick Lamar
We love good music, but we really love amazing artists, which is why Kendrick Lamar deserves an episode dedicated to his genius, and of course, the random life connections we make to his music that make us go hmmmm. Listen as we dissect lyrics, figure out our lives, define Black cinema and shout out our artist of the week: Chantae Cann.
Ep. 1 - The First One
Everyone has to start somewhere. At least that’s what we’ve been telling ourselves when it comes to Episode One. Spin the Bottle is all about those random conversations with friends that run deep as the Pacific or as surface as D. Trump’s toupee. So enjoy this random collection of thoughts on Idris Elba, black men in flip-flops, plus a bonus PSA about stealth copying from Danielle. Also, sleep is good. So get some. We don’t know whose idea it was to give us a mic, but we like where this is going!
