It's Dani's time to shine on this mini spin as we discover a few historical facts that make California amazing. It's not just "Hollywood" with us. So join us as we pay homage to the Golden State. You're welcome 😊
Ep. 15 - The One About Feminist Tendencies
Women’s issues are everyone’s issues - at least that’s our perspective. Listen as we gripe about the best and worst parts about the feminist movement. From a completely usable 'Word of the Day', to some great tips on saving cash, you’re bound to have a few real life takeaways. Fair warning: we make no promises about potential alternative facts surrounding cucumbers in this episode. We’re just trying to make your eating habits great...again?
SpinOff #16 - All Black EVERYTHING!
We couldn’t let Black History Month go by without our very own "All Black Everything" episode!! This show is filled with melanin amazingness from way back...back into time, right up to Black Twitter. Find out who got a shot out all the way from the 1700’s and which song Dréa has dubbed the new “hustler’s anthem". In true STB fashion, we covered the gamut. So whether it’s a little history, a lot of music, or our many shout outs - join us in celebrating the brilliance that is Black people. After all, we did put somebody on the moon… *Insert Slow Clap*
SpinOff #15 - Lyrically Tho (Nostalgic Edition - Vol. I)
On this mini-episode, we dig a little deeper into the lyrics behind the music we have been listening to. Dani discovers that she has to retire one of her tried and true 90’s R&B jams, Dréa learns what Usher really means by "No Limit", and we finally discover who actually put the “Miss" in Misdemeanor. Prepare yourself. It’s not Missy Elliott. Who knew? Lyrically tho?! Because once you know what people are really talking about, it’s hard to bob your head to tomfoolery.
SpinOff #14 - What Are You Watching?
In response to one of our listener letters, we decided to tell you guys all about what we are watching these days. Turns out, there was a whole lot to discuss! We covered all the new shows we are currently crushing on from “OA" to “Atlanta"; decided whether we were Team Lawrence or Daniel, and being the loyal fans we are also gave homage to the shows that we still stand behind. Even if they did kill off a couple 2, 3…7 of our favorite characters. Thanks a lot Shonda. All and all, we think it’s been a great year for TV & Cinema. So, grab your popcorn and join us for a little podcasting and chill – the PG kind.
Ep. 14 - The One About Unlearning
Join us as we bring in the New Year sharing some of the things we are actively learning and unlearning in 2017. We covered everything from iOS updates to Faith Evans. In this episode you’ll discover our mantra for the year (thanks to Dréa) and we suspect you may want to adopt it as well. It’s just that good. Go right ahead...we won’t even take credit. Also, Dani shares one of her most mortifying moments and we have a little friendly competition between the sexes which we’ve aptly dubbed "Mars vs. Venus". Suffice to say, you’re going to get all you need to start this New Year on the good foot as well as a few laughs at our expense.
Ep. 13 - The First One About Christmas
Happy Christma-kwan-zakah!! We couldn’t let this holiday season pass without doing a little something on the celebratory kick…Spin The Bottle style! This one is filled with seasonal surprises and revelations. Dani gets (sorta) a chocolate Christmas miracle, and just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, someone got a flawless diamond! Find out what "The Purge", Coca-Cola, Chili’s Gift Cards, and Tony the Tiger all have in common.
Meanwhile, the STB family considers seriously celebrating Kwanzaa as a former VP of the Black Student Union drops some quality jew-ells on us (and it is our obligation to stay woke). Dani comes to the conclusion that she is not about that “cuff life”. And last, but certainly not least, for your Grammy consideration we give you a stunning rendition of “The 12 Days of Christmas.” It’s for us. By us. Suffice to say, y’all aren’t ready!
Ep. 12 - The One About Extroverts
We told you we were going to make it happen so here it is: an episode on Extoverts! When we say that we were ENLIGHTENED?!!! Happy to have Catfish from "Survivors Remorse" and Leah Williams from “Sexless", "Awkward Black Girl", and our favorite gal and producer, Alex Queen-Sneed, stand up for the other (sometimes more outwardly expressive) side. This one is chock full of good insights and funny revelations.
Listen to Dréa butcher (like with a rusty machete) the word of the day and then recover like a CHAMP with a dope sentence. Dani drops some Random Factoids, and our guests get vulnerable with their personality. We bring the episode to a close as Dréa attempts to get out of her feelings with a decent Recent Revelation. Also, Catfish tells us the origin of his name!!! Honestly, not what we expected...
In short, dope show, dope people. You'll enjoy this one.
(Side Bar: Listen, A$AP Rocky...we really are doing our best to turn Dani into any form of a millennial. Please forgive us.)
SpinOff #13 - For Nostalgia's Sake
Singing: “Back in the day when we were young/ we aren’t kids anymore / but some days we sit and wish that we were kids again.” Okay. The fact remains that we are two very grown women still grappling with “adulting”. And although we aren’t kids anymore, that won’t stop us from reminiscing about the good old days. Tune in to today’s SpinOff to find out what Duck Tales and Will Smith have in common. We even have a few jew-ells by way of our favorite cold remedies. So, pour yourself a glass of ginger ale or wine (depending on how you feel) and enjoy a trip down memory lane— 80’s baby style.
SpinOff #12 - Mars. Vs. Venus
After reviewing this episode...we realize we were a tad judgy when it comes to men. But ya'll do give us SUCH strong ammunition! From being sick babies to being romantically “clueless", this mini spin is dedicated to the men we love...to make fun of. You da best!
SpinOff #11 - Post Election Fallout
Yes. It actually happened. Donald Trump is the President-elect of the United States of America. No. You are not in the Twilight Zone. Although, if you are anything like us, this may be pretty close to your worst nightmare. Today, the show goes on but we are feeling ALL TYPES of ways…

Ep. 11 - The One About Heartbreak
Heartbreak. It's part of the human experience and no one is immune. The interesting part about that is, when it's YOUR heart that's broken, no one can convince you that you aren't entirely alone. The good news is, you will come out of it on the other side stronger and wiser. The bad news is, it's going to suck immensely for a while. We brought along four of our friends to talk this thing out. Yes. We brought out the cavalry just for you. This episode comes complete with jew-wels, poetic takeaways, cautionary tales, and a little Toni Braxton for good measure!
We even made a playlist called "All Heartbreak Matters" on Spotify (http://bit.ly/allheartbreakmatters) & Tidal (https://tidal.com/playlist/c3ec314b-2d4f-4e9d-b5bc-57a5fa885de6) for you guys to check out, complete with all of your votes for "go-to" songs when you are in your feelings.
Also, check out Will’s short film “Stages" on Issa Rae's YouTube Channel. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XARfdtGMUo)
We also suggest you check out "His and Hers" by Gabe Roland. You can find his music via all social media platforms at @TheGabeRoland. Check them out!
SpinOff #10 - That's Not In The Bible
This Spin-Off is all about the words of the good Lord. We’re not members of the clergy by any means, but we know a few things about what Jesus definitely did and did not say. And honestly, it’s amazing what a quick google search can do. Though Dani will always stand by the notion that cleanliness is next to godliness….Lavender Fabuloso and scrubber in hand.
Ep. 10 - The One About Age
Age ain’t nothing but a number...a number that we struggle with all the damn time. Male or female, teen or early thirties, we all want to be elsewhere. Either we’re mad because we haven’t accomplished every goal on our list, or we wish we could go back....waaaaay back.... unless of course, we’re 12, then we just want to be 21! (Because NO ONE complains about that!) See what we mean? At Spin The Bottle, we don’t claim to have all the answers, but when it comes to loving the skin you’re in, our hard fast rule has become “Wherever you are, BE there”. Because that’s all the time you get anyway. No need to waste it on being miserable.
Enjoy this reflection on life and age. You’ll hear about best experiences, disappointments, and memorable lessons. Hopefully, it will inspire you to “shake the 'Etch-A-Sketch'” and do something that makes you happy.
SpinOff #9 - Lyrically Tho?
Do you know the lyrics to all your favorite songs? No, really. Every word? We thought we knew too, but once again, we found ourselves in a real recent revelation. Listen as we uncover the true inspiration and lyrical connotation of a few classic tunes. Who knows, maybe "Uncle Jo Jo" was also a part of your Bone, Thugs & Harmony experience as well...
Ep. 9 - The One About Creativity
Have you found yourself in a creative rut? Not to worry, we have Brooks D. Proctor, founder of Square Bear, in the building to help us work a few of the kinks out. From pinky rings to peanut butter and jelly we’ve covered the full gamut in this conversation about how to unlock the je-wels from the right side of your brain. And we promise, there’s a little something in here for everyone because we happen to believe that creativity is an equal opportunist. So cue up your Pinterest page and let your inner artist loose. Haven’t you heard? It’s hip to be YOU!

SpinOff #8 - I Feel A Way
Between grown men and flip-flops, elaborate kid birthdays, and selfies while “praying”, we still manage to be annoyed by something else. But obviously, we have our reasons. And we swear they are pretty good...
Ep. 8 - The One About Introverts
Well, kids. “To thine own self be true” is the moral of this story. If you love quiet, binging on Netflix and the sound of your own thoughts, you’re in good company. WE SEE YOU. Or if you’re confused by your boo or bestie’s occasional aloofness, or feel they need to “get out more”, you should definitely join us for this mini education on introversion—at least as we know it. Patience, extroverts, your time will come. It always does…

SpinOff #7 - Black Lives Matter
On this mini-spin, we take a more serious turn to discuss Black Lives Matter and the tragedies which took place over the summer. We would be remiss if we didn’t discuss it as it affected each and everyone of us in a multitude of different ways. Tune in for our take on what it felt like to navigate through and what we plan to do in order to be a part of the solution moving forward. Black Lives Matter. Our. Lives. Matter.
SpinOff #6 - Currently Crushing (Summer '16 Edition)
As we prepare to bid this Summer adieu, we take a moment to look back on the many highlights. There are so many moments that made our hearts pitter patter, but the general consensus is that we are currently crushing on all the Melanin Magic of this season. It’s a good look! So, with that being said, join us for a little Netflix reminiscing & chillin’ (the G-Rated kind) while we celebrate all the awesomeness that was this Summer!
